Elected member Tim Glazbrook outside the Fleurieu Aquatic Centre whihc has had to close its doors due to the coronavirus.

As mandated by the Federal Government, the Fleurieu Aquatic Centre (FAC) has temporarily closed as of Monday, March 23.

Area Manager Southern Region James Lomax said there was no confirmed cases of the coronavirus among any FAC staff or members.

"The health and safety of the FAC staff and customers within the community is the number one priority during this time," Mr Lomax said.

"This facility is extremely important to our customers and management recognise this is a difficult time for everybody. In acknowledgement of this very unique time, management have suspended all memberships, including for swimming lessons, which will all automatically be placed on suspension during the period of closure and members will not be charged."

The YMCA and the FRAC Authority will continue to monitor the situation closely and follow the advice of the government and governing health authorities so that the Centre can reopen as soon as is practical.

FAC will remain contactable throughout the closure period should any members of the community have any questions.

Updates will be provided via the website and Facebook page as information comes to hand.

"We are taking this action to help slow down and stop the spread of the virus and urge all within our community to take care and look after each other as we meet and beat this challenge," Mr Lomax said.
