Two people injured, house collapses after truck crash at Carrickalinga

The impact of a truck crashing into a house at Carrickalinga has left two people in the vehicle injured and the building completely destroyed.

About 10.30am on Tuesday, May 19, emergency services were called to the scene on Carrickalinga Road, where the truck had travelled down a hill and collided with a two-storey transportable home.

The house then collapsed on top of the truck, with the impact destroying the building and the debris on and around the truck's cabin trapping the driver and passenger for nearly an hour.

Country Fire Service and State Emergency Service crews worked to free the injured men.

An SA Police spokesman said the two men who were in the truck were treated at the scene before being taken to Flinders Medical Centre, one by ambulance and one by Medivac helicopter.

Their injuries are not believed to be life-threatening.

Thankfully, no one was home at the time of the crash.
