A woman is in a critical condition and three others, including a four-year-old girl, have serious injuries after a head-on crash at McLaren Vale on Monday afternoon, June 1.

Police and paramedics were called to the crash between a taxi and a Mazda sedan on Victor Harbor Road, near the top of the hill, near Main Road about 2pm.

According to an SA Health spokeswoman, a 69-year-old Willunga woman who was the passenger of the taxi was critically injured, while her driver, a 68-year-old Seaford man, is in a serious condition.

She said the four-year-old girl in the Mazda sedan, driven by a 42-year-old Encounter Bay woman believed to be her mother, was seriously injured. The woman is also in a serious condition.

All patients were taken to Flinders Medical Centre by helicopter or by ambulance.

Major Crash Investigators attended the crash, and the road was losed between Main Road and Budgens Road for over five hours.
