Business Victor Harbor is on the move to assist businesses post COVID-19.

In response to the support financially by the City of Victor Harbor, Business Victor Harbor are in search of a Business Support Executive.

City of Victor Harbor has adopted many measures to support business in Victor Harbor through council rate relief, business support grants program worth $250,000, funding for Business Victor Harbor to provide targeted local business support valued at $120,000 over two financial years and $24,000 to support a proposal for Business SA to provide business advisory services.

Primary objectives for the Business Support Executive are to provide an active liaison and business support service to local businesses who have been affected by the reduction of business because of the COVID -19 pandemic, to identify the key operational issues and needs that are impacting on the current and future trading results of local businesses, to identify and recommend the channels of support (solutions) that will best assist local businesses to establish processes and actions to help recover and grow their specific business, to undertake independent research and summarise the market problems identified with those of the interviewed businesses.

The successful applicant will then recommend solutions to Business Victor Harbor (BVH), Business SA (BSA), and the City of Victor Harbor (CVH).

Chair of Business Victor Harbor Michael Schubert said specific duties and tasks would include becoming knowledgeable with all government support packages such as Job Keeper, Job Seeker and the City of Victor Harbor COVID-19 Business Support Grants program.

"The Business Support Executive will work in conjunction with Business SA and the City of Victor Harbor with the implementation of the Local Business Support and Development Program and review the current Business Victor Harbor membership list and all other businesses in the Victor Harbor LGA, who are not necessarily a member of BVH and identify and prioritise those businesses who need support and help," Mr Schubert said.

"Formal qualifications in sales and or marketing are preferred, but not essential. A demonstrated understanding of relationship management and a sound knowledge in fundamental business practices and procedures, in particular financial management will be required.

"It will be important to have an understanding of the opportunities and constraints that face small regional businesses and the ability to interpret operational/functional needs and have effective communication skills in consultation, negotiation, coaching and informing along with effective written skills.

"The ability to communicate and report electronically, verbally and in written form, findings and outcomes promptly and effectively will be needed."

The position will report to the Chair of Business Victor Harbor, Mr Schubert and in his absence to the Deputy Chair, Taryn Richardson.
