The South Australian Whale Centre in Victor Harbor will be opening just in time for visitors to become better informed about marine species over the June long weekend.
The centre made the announcement on Facebook on Wednesday, June 3 that it would reopen from Friday, June 5, having been closed due to COVID-19 restrictions.
"We had planned to share this exciting news (on Tuesday) but the whales stole our spotlight," the post said, referring to the sighting of the first two whales in Fleurieu waters on Tuesday.
"Now we get to open just in time for the kick off of whale season, hooray."
The operation of the whale centre will be "a little different" over coming weeks to keep visitors, staff, and volunteers safe.
There will be hand sanitising stations around the centre to be used often while interacting with displays, and the cleaning and sanitising regime has been "amped up".
"We would like to ask that you please work with us during this time of transition and can't wait to see your bright happy faces coming through our doors," the post said.
