There are five clubs who have committed to the Great Southern Netball season which will be commence on Saturday, July 11.

The semi finals will be played on September 19 and the grand final on September 26.

The season will see each team playing each other twice. For the first time in memory the netball will not follow the football.

Great Southern Netball Association president Sherryl Rothwell said it was for this season only.

"I know this is not ideal and will make it difficult for families, but it just wouldn't work with only five clubs and distancing etc," she said.

Playing in 2020 will be Victor Harbor, Langhorne Creek, Myponga, Willunga and Encounter Bay.

South Australian netballers participating will receive a 50 per cent reduction in their fees for 2020.

The Netball SA Board approved the reduction to help ease the financial pressure on its associations, clubs and players following the impact of the COVID-19 outbreak.

"The netball community has been hit hard by this pandemic and we know a number of our associations have experienced financial hardship as a result," Netball SA CEO Bronwyn Klei said.

"We are hopeful that reducing the fees will allow more netballers to get back on court as we know we've got tens of thousands of players that are just desperate to get back out there."

Netball SA's associations will communicate with its clubs about what this means for each individual association.
