It is pleasing to announce that members and friends have been welcomed back to games at the Port Elliot Bowling Club, following a lengthy lay off due to COVID-19 restrictions.
The Winter Bowls program is in full swing with games taking place on Monday, Wednesday and Saturday.
The Club is fully conscious of lurking COVID-19 issues and has the recommended practices in place to protect players an their health and safety.
The weather was good for all games this week, encouraging players to get out, catch up with friends, and compete.
For Monday Pairs there were 36 players. Overall winners were: Michael Yeoman/Mick Price. Runners Up were : Darryl Hammett/Mick Wenman. Second Game winners were: John Harrigan/Ron Gebert.
Wednesday Scroungers (two games of 8 ends), is gaining in popularity and there were 36 players on the green this week. This draw game is played in 3's or 4's, with each player competing as an individual.
Winner of Winners was: Anthea Faull (24 shots), Winner of seconds was: Lorraine Fox (29) and Winner of 3rds was: Pearl York (28).
Saturday Triples competition was strong. Overall winners were: Ken Weeks, Don Gifford, Ian Herron; Runners Up were: Ron Gebert, Peter Cullen, Jim Gamble and Winners of Losers were: Jim Schofield, Dennis Wright and John Deal.
All bowlers are welcome to PEBC games. Please put your name on the list on the outside noticeboard.

Forty-eight bowlers took to the greens for the Presidents Pairs this week, amidst fine weather, with some wind.
The winners of the day were: Norm Pearl and Roger Watt on 32 plus 17. Second were Vicky and Dave Roberts on 31 plus 19 and Third were Jim Taylor and Bob Foster on 31 plus 5.
Thursday Social Bowls were sponsored by Tyrepower, Victor Harbor and rain unfortunately stopped play before 18 ends were played.
Results were determined on 11 ends. Winners were: Vicky Roberts, Greg Davis and John Cunningham with 28 plus 8. Runners up were: Randall Rabone, Philip Cochrane and Anne Calvert with 28 plus 7. Third were the pairs team of John Hewitt and Tony Brookson with 27 plus 5.
Sunny skies, no rain and no wind made for a perfect bowling day on Saturday, resulting in an excellent turnout for Saturday Social Bowls.
The winners of the day were Kathy Clarke and Jenny Collett on 32 plus 13. Dave Roberts, Tony Brookson and Dorothy Jarvis were Runners Up on 32 plus 11 and Charlie Norman, John Guy and Dion Millard took third place with 31 plus 19.
Another great week of bowling took place under challenging weather conditions. Some days were ideal, other days anything but.
The pandemic rules seem to be accepted now as a new normal and everyone is successfully abiding by the rules, without questioning the conditions of play.
The week's action started on Tuesday at 10am with the club's 'Pie Floater Day.'
A small number of visitors joined Goolwa members for a game of Triple Eights, with the winning pair being Garry Fox and Rinus Spaan from Rob Kaplan and Kevin Weeks. /
Winners of the second game were the pairing of Glenda Brown and Alan Detrey.
On Wednesday, a 12 noon start was signalled another pairs day, sponsored by Mr. Gary Fox and once again saw a good turnout of members and some visitors, for two games of thirteen ends.
The winning pair was Mal Sekulitch and Geoff Dutton from Frank Gibbons and Ted Ozols.
Second game winners were Dan Krebbekx and Gary Fox.
On Saturday, an Open (drawn) three Bowls Triples day took place, once again a very good turn out.
The day took place under strict 'pandemic rules.'
Winners of the day were the team of Bob Weir, H.Ward and David Evans from G.Fox, Rick Morris and K.Kotx.
Winners of the second game were an all ladies team of Di Best, Jan Jaenisch and Ann Wood. Well done girls!
