Cheap microchipping will be available for pets in Yankalilla and Strathalbyn for one day only.
Chip Blitz is run by Lost Pets of SA and the South Australian government, and they have partnered with the District Council of Yankalilla and Alexandrina Council to offer $10 microchipping.
The initiative will visit the District Council of Yankalilla's council chambers on Saturday, July 25 and the Strathalbyn Community Centre on Saturday, August 1.
Once the registration form is completed and the $10 fee is paid on the day, pets are scanned before they are microchipped, taking about 15 minutes in total.
Bookings are essential - visit www.chipblitz.com to register.
Microchipping of pets became compulsory in July 2018 after the state government passed legislation to make it law.
Microchips make it easier to identify owners if pets are lost, giving them a better chance of getting home quicker, decreasing the burden on shelters holding lost pets, and reducing the cost to local councils.
