A thumb tack has reportedly been found in a punnet of strawberries bought from a Goolwa supermarket.
A local resident contacted police after locating the pin on Monday, June 6, after buying it from Foodland Goolwa earlier that day.
Thankfully, no one was injured.
Police are reviewing CCTV footage from the store as part of their investigation into the contamination.
As a precaution, the strawberries have been taken off the supermarket's shelves.
SAPOL said it was a "serious offence to contaminate food products", as it could put other people in danger.
Anyone with information which might help police with their investigation is asked to contact Crime Stoppers on 1800 333 000 or at www.crimestopperssa.com.au
