A decision made at a 2019 council meeting about the composition of a Native Fauna Conservation Committee was over turned by elected members at the June council meeting.
Elected members, led by councillors Brayden Mann, Marilyn Henderson and Andrew Robertson, moved successfully for council to initiate the establishment of a Native Fauna and Wildlife Conservation Group and that it be largely comprised of community members.
The motion was carried unanimously. The City of Victor Harbor is now undertaking an Expression of Interest for suitably qualified members of the community to serve on the conservation group.
The successful applicants will be assessed on relevant skills and experience by which they can demonstrate prior or current experience in fauna conservation and feral animal control.
