With the horses' birthday on Saturday, August 1, the Granite Island Horse Tram team are celebrating the milestone through social media, as it's the year of COVID and not as easy to engage with the public in person.
General Manager of the Horse Tram Megan Whibley is celebrating a milestone of her own, being with the tram for 12 months.
"The team spirit is really shining through and with the horses looking fantastic and the training of our newbies and fitness of the team going so well, I really feel excited about the next 12 months," Megan said.
"But we all love birthdays, so how nice is it to have something to celebrate.
"It's been unusual times and this has seen us with restricted numbers, as we can only carry up to 20 passengers on the tram each trip.
"We have been selling one way tickets, so as to let as many people as possible experience our beautiful icon. The public have been very understanding as we wipe the tram down between trips and take contact details of the passengers for COVID contact tracing.
"The school holidays saw some beautiful Victor Harbor weather so we really have been spoilt.
"With a new causeway in the process of being designed, there is a strong future for the Victor Harbor Horse Tram Authority."
Megan said the personalities of the horses are such a big part of the community with the horse tram.
To celebrate the birthdays of horses Albert, Murray, Scotty, Izzy, Jay Jay and Elliot the team have constructed social media posts, which introduce them to the community.
This includes Albert - 'Hi Everyone, a bit about me.... I'm a Schoolmaster on the Victor Harbor Horse Drawn Tram. I am exceptionally proud of my position and I am the boss! Although by Jay Jay thinks otherwise at times, I am an introvert and generally take things in my stride and in my own time.
It's my birthday on Saturday, August 1. I will be turning 13 .... where have the years gone? For my birthday I have put together a wish list. Fingers crossed someone sees it. Here goes..... tickets to the opera. SA will have to do, visit to the Festival Theatre and Museum, David Attenborough Life Stories CD, a new cigar for my collection, a recliner armchair with extra leg space and a heated stable with surround sound.
Forever grateful, Love Albs x.'
'Hi All, My name is Jay Jay. But I prefer just 'Jay'. I don't like things too complicated. So like all my relatives, I'm having a birthday and turning 13. A bit about me.
I'm a technical character. Sensitive and complicated. I enjoy my job and my beach swims are just the best! I think aft my third WorkCover Claim my boss (who is so awesome) thought I best I stick to light duties. Oh and for the record, Albert! He just thinks he owns the show.
Ok, so my wish list is a paid holiday with Albert to the Snowy Mountains, a new set of winkers, keep seeing some scary stuff from current set, continue on light duties (prefer three days a week), a pair of leg warmers for winter, rainbow pattern please, carrot cake to myself with flavoured icing and a dream catcher for my new stable.
Yours Truly, Jay x

'My name is Elliot, I'm Odd. An OddBall. Actually that's my nickname. Well I'm just an individual. I like my own thing. My own time. And my own gig. Don't rush me. Yep I have been known to go off track literally, but you know I always deliver the goods. So my wish list is new surfboard, Oddball DVD, PlayStation, a meditation triangle, yearly supply of Red Bull Energy, new set of Reflector Ray bands and dreadlocks from a patient hairdresser.'
