Goolwa Camera Club hosts end of year competition and Annual General Meeting

Wednesday, November 25 was the final competition day of 2020 for the Goolwa Camera Club (GCC).

Despite the uncertainties and interruptions of COVID-19, GCC continued to run via Zoom throughout the year and only recently resumed physical meetings at the Scout Hall.

Twenty two people attended to see judge, Peter Phillips, make his final assessment of 98 images and announce the winners and runner-up.

The year 2020 saw the introduction of new awards, with the Peter Reedman Memorial Trophy, sponsored by Central Market Photo Co - Camera House, and foundation members Noel and Margaret Speechley also donating trophies.

The Noel and Margaret Speechley trophies are awarded to the winners of the Projected Digital Image Open Category which was won by Julie Barrie's 'Petrel Cove Sunset'. Runner-up was Julia McGraith's 'Worlds End'. The Print Open Category was won by Roger Shelden with 'Grass Tree'. Roger also took second place with his print 'Hello There'.

The Peter Reedman Memorial Trophy was awarded for The Image of the Year, which is chosen from the above two categories, with Roger Shelden's 'Grass Tree' taking top honours.

Judge Peter Phillips commended the club on the high standard of work, and said the decisions were extremely close and quite difficult.

Goolwa Camera Club will conclude its 2020 calendar with a social barbecue evening at Amelia Park on December 9.
