Business feedback is needed on the viability of tertiary education services being provided through a Regional University Centre on the South Coast region of South Australia.
Regional Development Australia (RDA) in conjunction with the City of Victor Harbor, Alexandrina and Yankalilla councils have come together to assess the viability of tertiary education services being provided through a Regional University Centre (RUC) within the south coast region of South Australia.
A study is in progress, co-ordinated by the consulting firm ISC Consulting Group, to manage the process of delivering a business case to the Federal Government for funding later this year.
In support of this process a steering committee has been established to support and advise ISC Consulting.
Business Victor Harbor chair Michael Schubert said at this early stage of the concept, it is envisaged that a South Coast student (school leaver or adult) can attend such a facility and study on line a tertiary education program with almost any University in Australia supported by local administration and academic services.
"The extent of the support services to be provided such as infrastructure needs, administration needs will be addressed as part of the business case," Mr Schubert said.
"Business Victor Harbor is working in collaboration with STRIVE to gather some sample data on industry needs for this service from BVH members and the wider business community.
"The information would go a long way towards informing the study group on the demand for such a facility by Victor Harbor businesses."
