Two men who left Cape Jervis on Thursday afternoon to go fishing off Kangaroo Island but did not return have been found.
The two Cape Jervis men, aged 48 and 47, left the mainland in their boat about 2.30pm to try their luck fishing around Cape Willoughby on Kangaroo Island.
They let loved ones know they would return about 6.30pm on Thursday, but when they had not returned by nightfall, police were called about 11.50pm.
Searching undertaken by the police helicopter and a Challenger search and an Australian Maritime Safety Authority (AMSA) rescue plane from Victoria began and ended Thursday night, and resumed on Friday morning.
Just before 8.30am, the AMSA plane's crew spotted the men on North Page Island, in the middle of Backstairs Passage between Kangaroo Island and the mainland, with their upturned boat in nearby waters.
A rescue effort by police picked the men up from the island, and although they were not injured, they were taken to South Coast District Hospital for a check-up.
