Round two of the Great State vouchers scheme was snapped up within 40 minutes of registrations opening on Tuesday morning, January 5.
The travel voucher scheme aims to get travellers to stay in their destinations longer, giving a boost to local economies.
The scheme was made up of two types of travel vouchers: a $100 voucher for accommodation providers in Adelaide's CBD, and a $50 voucher for regional and suburban stays.
People could access one of each voucher for free.
Unlike the first round, these vouchers were open to all Australians, and not just South Aussies looking to explore their backyard.
While many people experienced technical difficulties trying to access the vouchers, the 70,000-plus vouchers were allocated within 40 minutes of registrations opening.
Premier Steven Marshall hoped this round would build on the success of the first round.
"The first round of vouchers injected $10 million into our state's economy, with the tens of thousands of discounted room night bookings giving people more time and more money to spend on experiences like the Naracoorte Caves, Granite Island Tram or the Adelaide Zoo," he said.
"With an additional round expanded to include interstate travellers, who we know spend more than intrastate, as well as the peak summer holiday period and events like the Santos Festival of Cycling and WOMADelaide, this stimulus comes at exactly the right time to further bolster tourism businesses and create jobs."
To make use of the vouchers, trips must be booked between January 7 and 31, for travel from January 7 to March 31 inclusive (excluding Saturday nights).
Advice from SA Tourism Commission regarding technical difficulties
If you got as far as the verification loading, this means you were in the queue. Tens of thousands of people in this queue did get through and were lucky to grab a voucher. If it kept loading, this means you did not reach the front of the queue prior to the allocation being exhausted and unfortunately, you missed out.
If you got a notification saying 'you've already registered', this means you were likely successful - and if you were, you will receive confirmation via SMS and email soon. If you are unsure, please send any screenshots you have and your details to firstname.lastname@example.org
