A land and air search throughout the Coorong found a man who went missing after his four-wheel-drive became bogged on Friday night, January 9.

The 59-year-old Murray Bridge man was reported missing to police just after 11.30pm.

He and his wife had been driving along Kartoo Road when they got bogged in soft sand about 4pm.

The woman stayed with the four-wheel-drive while the man headed north along Kartoo Road with one litre of water in search of help.

Local shack owners came across the vehicle and helped the woman get it unstuck, but when her husband could not be found, police were called.

The police helicopter PolAir searched the area during the night but the man was not found.

At first light on January 10, police, State Emergency Service volunteers, and PolAir teamed up to conduct a full-scale search, and just after 7am PolAir located the man.

He was taken to the forward command post at Meningie where he was checked by paramedics.
