Fires are burning near Naracoorte in the South East.

The blaze at Blackford has been downgraded to a Watch and Act and the Watch and Act message for Woolumbool, Lochaber, Naracoorte, Cadgee, Kybybolite, Hynam, Mount Light and Moyhall has been cancelled.

There is a Bushfire Watch and Act message issued for Blackford, Avenue Range and Lucindale near in the Lower South East of South Australia.

Take action now as this bushfire may threaten your safety. If you are not prepared, leave now and if the path is clear, go to a safer place. Do not enter this area as conditions are dangerous.

The BLACKFORD, MAIL BRIDGE ROAD fire is uncontrolled. This grass fire is burning in a East to North East towards Minnie Crowe Road Avenue Range and Fairview Road at Lucindale. Conditions are continually changing.

A bushfire is heading towards Naracoorte and has threatened Lucindale.

Those who need to evacuate with pets including horses can shelter at the Naracoorte Showgrounds.

The Naracoorte P&A Show Society have opened their doors to anyone who needs to seek refuge with pets, including horses or large animals.

Naracoorte Lucindale Mayor Erika Vickery said the council was prepared to open up the Naracoorte Town Hall if needed for refuge.

She said Naracoorte was "quite safe" and recommended those that need to get to a safe place within the town, including the Naracoorte Library.

"Naracoorte itself is quite safe, so people will find a place within that area," she said.

"We are hoping everyone does remain safe, and that it is dealt with quickly.

"We are so grateful to the CFS volunteers and everyone who puts themselves out to help when these situation occur

"We will keep on monitoring the situation, and we are in close contact with the Country Fire Service and the police."

Earlier

An out-of-control bushfire is raging on the outskirts of Lucindale in hot, dry and windy conditions.

About 30 fire trucks and 10 aircraft are battling the blaze.

A Country Fire Service spokesman said the latest mapping showed 11,941 hectares had been burnt. .

"We haven't been able to confirm it but there will be property lost in that fire area, and livestock as well," he said.

"It is still under an emergency warning for the township of Lucindale. We believe it is on the outskirts of the town."

Conditions are dangerous and firefighters are now unable to prevent the fire spreading. Shelter before the fire arrives as heat can kill you well before the flames reach you.
