After years of hard work and training, Victor Harbor Sea Scouts Zoe and Elyssia have been awarded the Australian Scout Medallion in recognition of their efforts to further widen their interests and knowledge in scout-craft.

The Australian Scout Medallion is considered the highest youth award achievable in the scouting movement.

The award demonstrates a scout's commitment to developing their independence and leadership skills, and is the pinnacle award for the scout section.

Scout leader Julian Cousins said the Australian Scout Medallion was a highly commendable achievement.

"For scouts it represents hundreds of hours of service, hard work and dedication," Mr Cousins said.

"In receiving this award, Zoe and Elyssia have shown great personal development and commitment to the three scouting principles; duty to one's faith, duty to self and duty to others."

The award brings together a number of key skills and elements learned through scouting.

Participation in a scout leadership course and completion of the Adventurer Cord are some of the elements required to earn the medallion.

Zoe and Elyssia have both decided to continue their scouting journey with Venturers.
