As many as 500 keen poker players are anticipated to descend on Victor Harbor next week as part of the Southern Poker Tour's 'Face off in the Fleurieu' event.

Running over four days between Thursday, May 13 and Sunday, May 16, Face off in the Fleurieu will be held at the McCracken Country Club and showcase nine different poker tournament games.

Games range from $60 buy ins up to $1200 for high rollers.

Players from across the country are expected to attend and organiser Matt Elson said he was excited to bring such a large event to the region, following successful tournaments in the Riverland and the Barossa.

"We nearly doubled our numbers between our first and second event, so we are expecting a big turnout in Victor Harbor," Mr Elson said.

"No other poker events are being run in Adelaide over the same weekend, so we are expecting some great players to come who will also put a lot of money into the local economy across a four day stay."

Events begin from 12.00pm on May 13, with a $100,000 series prize pool up for grabs.

Due to COVID-19 restrictions, places are limited so players are encouraged to pre-book tickets online.
