Round 10 of the Great Southern Badminton Association (GSBA) was played at Investigator College, marking the end of the 2021 season minor round.

McDonald's-Victor Harbor's; Dale Sheridan, Duncan Andrews, Estelle Brayford, Simon Brayford, Sandie Sierke, Bohdi Sheridan, Gavin Daniell and Adam Daniell scored 339 points to secure top spot on the ladder with a 37 point win over Cardall Conveyancers; Yulius Potter, Matthew Farmer, Caitlin Stone, Tim Mignanelli, Robin Woods, Joe van Dalen, Zachary Daniell and Jordan Daniell with 302 points.

Gavin/Simon were pushed hard in the men's doubles by Zachary/Tim with the end score 23-21 and Matthew/Joe were triumphant 22-20 against Duncan/Bohdi. Robin toiled hard all night going down 17-21 in her mixed doubles with Matthew versus Sandie/Duncan.

The OJ's Computers match of the night honours went to Jordan/Zachary who secured a 21-18 win over Adam/Gavin and in doing so took home the winners bragging rights within the Daniell household.

The other match saw Victor Podiatry Centre's; Lochlan Hodge, Jacob Dugmore, Amanda Stevens, Paul Monash, Lyn Hodge, Luke Hodge, Rodney Beswick and Allan Brown score 346 points to defeat Terry White Chemmart-Hayborough's; Harris Tan, Shayne Drummond, Emma Walker, Ray Jackson, Caitlin Stone, Alex Czarnecki, Steve Wynniatt and Max Bubner with 272 points.

Max/Caitlin had a great win 21-19 against Allan/Lyn as did Amanda/Lochlan 21-17 against Emma/Harris.

Amanda also performed very well in the singles scoring 11 points versus Emma and Lochlan held on for a 21-19 hard fought win against Harris.

But the Fleurieu Milk Company player of the week award goes to GSBA association photographer Ray Jackson, who took the challenge of playing a singles game in his stride.

Ray is generally a doubles only player, but found himself on the other end of the court (minus a wingman), against Paul Monash after an oversight in the team match-ups.

You'll have to ask Ray if you want to know the exact score, however it can be explained by the phrase 'badminton is the winner'.

Round 1 of the finals begins this week with McDonald's-V.H. v Victor Podiatry Centre for a direct spot in the grand final, and Terry White Chemmart-Hayborough v Cardall Conveyancers in the elimination final. Tonkin's Sports season has drawn to a close as they finished in fifth place in the five team competition.

In club news the GSBA also conducted it's AGM last Thursday night.
