A jewellery store in Victor Central Shopping Centre was broken into on Saturday, October 9, and police have arrested a man over the incident.
Police were called to the Victor Harbor business just before 8pm by someone who reported seeing a man armed with a hammer smash the glass window of a jewellery shop.
The man allegedly reached in and grabbed watches and other items before running off.
A detailed description from several witnesses combined with CCTV footage allowed police to identify the alleged suspect.
The 38-year-old Murray Bridge man was found in the town by patrols a couple of hours later.
He was charged with serious criminal trespass and theft, refused police bail, and faced Christies Beach Magistrates Court on Monday, October 11.
Bail was not applied for and he was remanded in custody, and will face Adelaide Magistrates Court on Wednesday, December 8.
Police are still trying to locate the stolen property, but thanked the public for their help which led to the alleged suspect's arrest.
