The Strathalbyn, Ashbourne and Finniss Village Conversation marks the end of the 2021 schedule of conversations. The Village Conversations have been a valuable opportunity for Council to engage collaboratively to listen, learn and evolve our commitment to create a Liveable, Green and Connected Alexandrina.

The Village Conversations are open to residents, ratepayers, visitors and neighbours of surrounding townships and district to contribute ideas and share what they love, want to preserve and most importantly co-create now and into the future.

Participants are encouraged to contribute ideas and solutions across the five action areas of the A2040 Community Strategic Plan; including Community Inclusion, Appropriate Growth, Transport Connections, Climate Response and Environmental Innovation. Community based drop-in sessions, a digital conversation and an facilitated event present the opportunity for community members to showcase their township and share ideas, hopes and vision for a thriving future for Strathalbyn, Ashbourne and Finniss..

The facilitated event will take place on Tuesday 19 October, 5:45pm - 8pm at the recently upgraded Strathalbyn Town Hall. Guests can enjoy live music by local artist Sam Hissey and purchase a light dinner from the Lions Club of Strathalbyn fundraiser BBQ from 5:45pm - 6:30pm.

The voices heard throughout the Village Conversations will provide the foundation to authentically develop Village Innovation Plans (VIPs) for each locality by 2024. Outcomes and ideas from across the region will also guide and influence Council's future projects, plans, initiatives, decisions and allocation of resources within the Long Term Financial Plan.

Glenn Rappensberg, CEO is excited to see the opportunities for both Council and community to co-design future projects and initiatives.

"This new look to Community consultation sets the tone for increased collaboration, transparency and progress for how Council can partner with its proud citizens to inspire participation, development and sustainability for a strong Alexandrina."

Mayor Keith Parkes further commented:

"I have been in awe of the energy, passion and engagement that the 2021 Village Conversation program has created for Alexandrina. It has shone a light on what is unique for each township and harmonious for our region as a whole."
