Game for all ages

A special moment occurred at the Victor Habror Golf Club (VHGC) when it hosted the the 41 st Annual Victor Harbor Classic. It was in the Ladies Foursomes, which this year was won by Lily Harris (13 years old) and Betty Lockwood (79 years young).

Lily first joined the club in January 2020, after participating in one of the club's Junior Golf Clinics.

She has rapidly improved her handicap and now participates in events in the club and around the State. Lily is currently one of the Club's Junior Captains.

Betty has played golf for many years, scoring a hole in one in 1993, holding the position of Ladies President in 1998 and 1999 and Club President in 2000 and 2001.

She regularly plays in the Wednesday and Saturday competitions and was delighted to partner with Lily in the Foursomes.

The Victor Harbor Golf Club has a strong junior program and regularly holds MyGolf Junior Clinics.

This year, the Club received a grant from the Australian Golf Foundation Junior Girls Scholarship Program to provide coaching and uniforms to girls to encourage them to take up the sport of golf.

Juniors have coaching on Saturday afternoons, followed by a game of golf. The Club also holds Get into Golf sessions for people to learn the basics over a six week period.

Watch the club's website www.vhgolf.com.au or follow the club on Facebook for information on when the next Get into Golf and My Golf Junior Clinics will be held.
