Diversifying its offering and broadening its value to the community, the South Coast Choral & Arts Society (SCCAS) formed its own concert band this year, the SCCASBand.

The band's inaugural concert called 'ONE NIGHT IN NOVEMBER', will be held on Saturday, November 13, at the Newland Uniting Church, Victor Harbor.

Doors will open at 7pm, with the concert commencing at 7.30pm.

A special part of the program will be the band accompanying guest artist and singer Lily Van Rhoda. Lily will perform two songs in memory of SCCAS's good friend Mick McKinlay who sadly passed away last year.

Further, the band will be performing many more pieces in variety of styles, and genres, warming hearts and keeping toes tapping over two hours.

Supporting players of any age, the band's vision and mission are to create a community wind ensemble striving for musical technical excellence but never at the expense of having fun.

The players enjoy pushing themselves musically, loving to share and play entertaining and beautiful music with their community.

Part of the strategy includes the formation of the 'SCCAS Entry Band' providing an opportunity for beginning or returning musicians to play at a beginner level, with an opportunity to become better skilled, working towards becoming a member of the main ensemble.

The Gospel Centre at 2 George Main Road, Victor Harbor generously offers their venue for evening rehearsals from 7pm to 9pm each Monday.

If you are keen to join the SCCAS Band, please email sccasband@gmail.com or for further information contact either: JJ Geelen (Band Manager) 0407 719 338, Sharryn Phillips (Secretary) 0421 206 356, Tom Sulda (Music Director) 0400 848 628.
