The $80 million Anchorage Hotel development has stagnated for the past two years and is now under the planning authority of the state government.

But this has not stopped owner/developer of Anchorage Victor Harbor Greg Phillips making important decisions. .

South Australian-based hotel management specialist, 1834 Hotels, has confirmed as the new operator of heritage-listed Anchorage Hotel.

Currently managing a range of leading hotels, venues, and resorts across Australia, this represents a welcome return to Victor Harbor for 1834 Hotels, having previously been responsible for the McCracken Country Club.

In association, 1834 Hotels has engaged hospitality identity Henry Mould as the new General Manager of Anchorage Victor Harbor.

Mr Mould returns to Victor Harbor, having also managed other notable hotels in the town.

Mr Phillips will develop a new 4.5 star hotel on the adjoining site, to open in 2024 as a Wyndham Hotel, featuring 100 rooms, 27 apartments, two restaurants and an array of other facilities.

The original property is very much part of this long term vision and Mr Phillips has focused his immediate attention on revitalising Anchorage Victor Harbor's existing bistro and heritage accommodation, for which he has taken the decision to engage 1834 Hotels.

"Anchorage Victor Harbor is very much part of this town's DNA and I am committed to ensuring it retains status as one of the destination's iconic seafront hotels. On this basis, I am very pleased to have engaged an experienced operator of 1834 Hotels' calibre to oversee operations, and am equally excited at the appointment of Henry Mould as General Manager," Mr Phillips said.

"This new management team is completely attuned to the needs and potential of this destination and the wider tourism sector, and I look forward to what can be achieved together going forward."
